Highways works form a significant part of our operations.
We have a wealth of experience in fabricating and installing highways structures. We are qualified to CE mark steelwork to Execution class 3. We also hold National Highways Sector Scheme (NHSS) 20 accreditation and we are on the BCSA’s Register of Qualified Steelwork Contractors (RQSC) for bridge works.
We have completed projects in the South of England and the Midlands, and we are happy to tender for projects anywhere in Britain.
This project was to install two walkways under the M27 bridge over the river hamble in Hampshire.
These walkways will allow the Highways agency to inspect the bridge bearings without the need to wait for the correct tidal conditions, and access the bridge by boat. The walkways are now accessed from the hard shoulder of the motorway, via a removable access platform.
M4 Thames Bray Crossing
This project involved adding strengthening angles to the existing bridge girders under the motorway.
The underside of the bridge was scaffolded out to allow access, and all materials had to be manually handled. The existing girder webs were drilled using magnetic broaching machines, and the new angles were fitted using Tension Control Bolts.
Minley Barracks Footbridge
The main span of the bridge was replaced following a bridge strike.
The new 28 metre bridge section was fabricated at our works, and transported to site on a special rear wheel steering trailer, to enable it to negotiate corners.
The lifting operation took place at night to minimise traffic disruption, and lasted just 7 hours.
