Nuneham Viaduct

Contract Value: £440K

Client:

Network Rail

Balfour Beatty

Main Contractor:

Balfour Beatty Rail Services

“Network Rail discovered unacceptable levels of movement at Nuneham Viaduct, a bowstring truss bridge which crosses the River Thames near Abingdon in Oxfordshire, resulting in the bridge being immediately closed to rail traffic. In order to reconstruct the failing abutment, key elements of the existing superstructure would need to be removed and reinstated.

Four-Tees Engineers (FTE) were appointed to the project, taking advantage of their ability to instantly deploy an in-house survey, design, detailing, fabrication, and installation service under the leadership of a single point accountable project manager.”
