Four-Tees Engineers Awarded £5m Birnbeck Pier Restoration

Four-Tees Engineers (FTE) have secured the specialist steelwork package on the restoration of the iconic Birnbeck Pier in Weston-Super-Mare for Principal Contractor Mackley.

FTE works will include the dismantling and replacement of the life expired metalwork on the 317m Grade II Listed structure, the only pier in the UK to connect an island.

Four-Tees Engineers Managing Director Tim Stedman commented “We have a long and trusted relationship with our valued customer Mackley. I am certain the close collaboration between our organisations on this project will ensure it is completed as efficiently and effectively as possible – for Historic England, North Somerset Council and the many other funders contributing to protecting this landmark structure. The lessons learned and best practice captured from FTE extensive experience working in marine environments like Birnbeck, alongside our proven intelligent integration approach, will be invaluable in contributing to the safe and reliable delivery of this project with Mackley.”
