Four Tees Engineers are celebrating a successful 12 months of collaborative working with Balfour Beatty Rail Wales & Western Reactive & Minor Works Lot 1 Civils Western for Network Rail.
Tim Stedman FTE Managing Director commented “As specialists in steelwork structures our aim is always to identify methodologies that take the risk out of your fabrication projects with our Intelligent Integration design to installation capability. This approach alongside the close working relationships we have enjoyed with the Balfour Beatty teams on the framework has seen 23 projects undertaken to date, all having their own bespoke range of logistical and technical challenges.”
At St Pinnock’s in Cornwall FTE was appointed to undertake central rail bearer stool replacement on one of the tallest viaducts in the UK. In addition to the permanent works FTE scope included the design and installation of the temporary works jacking structure and permanent stool installation was completed during four track possessions.
On the Grade II Listed Bath Skew Bridge located immediately west of Bath Spa Station FTE were appointed to strengthen and cold stitch replacement collars, diagonal bracings and repairs to column fractures, all of which was completed during daytime working over 9 days.
On the Darkey Lane Bridge in Devon FTE undertook trimmer girder removal and replacement. This challenging project was a rail over road structure and time critical. A full road closure was already in place when FTE were approached, and the project was further complicated with limited access for scaffold and the worksite approached via a narrow lane. FTE expedient solution utilised a spider crane from Rebel Marine to remove and replace the life expired girders and the works were completed in just 6-night shifts.
