Better project management means faster, more reliable manufacturing and installation, delivered though a proven design and production process.
Creating steel structures using Four-Tess Engineers (FTE) Intelligent Integration approach, provides an end-to-end design, fabrication and installation process that cuts out disconnects and conflicting priorities. Solutions can then be manufactured, installed and maintained efficiently and without complication. The result of this better project management is greater cost and programme certainty for customers, with proven reductions in implementation phase variances of up to 45%.
At the Eastleigh Long Welded Rail Depot FTE’s solution developed in collaboration with the depot team enabled the facility’s productivity to be increased by 25%, raising annual rail capacity by nearly 8,000 tonnes. Whilst the final solution is very simple in appearance, the new V-Guide option required a thorough understanding of the mechanics of the production process. Accurate site surveys and measurements were necessary alongside the development of a prototype solution. Testing and analysis undertaken in the live working environment informed the detailing and practicalities of the final design, installation and ongoing maintenance.
The Nuneham Viaduct emergency works to restore a sinking bridge abutment was able to take full advantage of FTE’s one stop shop expertise in providing accountability from initial surveys, through option development, design, detailing, fabrication, installation and sign off. Contributing the project completion ahead of schedule.
FTE’s project manager outlined potential options whilst on site and, in doing so, accelerated the project team’s ability to achieve efficient and practical solutions for each challenge as it arose, a crucial factor in any emergency response situation.
In real time, specific site surveys and inspection information was being relayed directly from site to the FTE in-house design team. Calculations were processed and passed across the desk to our detailer who then prepared working drawings direct into the fabrication workshop for manufacture; fast tracking every stage in the process whilst maintaining certification and approval requirements.
FTE made a significant contribution to ensure the steelwork related activities were carefully assessed and processed efficiently and effectively; all towards the common goal of returning the railway into safe operation at the very earliest opportunity.
